Branding YOU
“Be the brand your customer can’t live without.” – John Dijulius
Whether you are in network marketing or online marketing, YOU are the product. People buy into YOU before they buy into a company, product, or service. Like it or not, all of us have a personal brand and we are already marketing our personal brand every day, one way or the other. It’s important to be intentional about your personal brand and have a plan and strategy to your branding.
Commitment to daily personal development is a must if you want to take your personal brand to the next level. The first step to a successful personal brand is knowing who you are and knowing where you are going. Always remember this important fact, people follow people who know where they are going and they buy from people that they know, like, and trust! It’s your responsibility to be the brand that leads people to a better way… A better way of living, a better way of doing things, a better way of making money, a better way of doing business.
Once you have established who you are and where you are going, the next step is to design a logo, color scheme, and a platform to share your brand with the world. Then it is about taking consistent, intentional, and massive action. Remember, people are watching and everything you do reflects on your brand. Your brand is your promise to your customers. Brand execution is how you deliver on that promise. Mark Schaefer, author of Social Media Explained and The Content Code, says, “You need a heroic brand, you cannot let people down. Be their hero.”
Take a personal inventory:
1. What skills and talents do you possess?
2. Are there any skills you need to acquire that will assist you on your journey and enable you to serve better?
3. What are you passionate about?
4. What will make you different from others in your niche?
It’s also important to be YOU. Don’t try and be something that you are not and you certainly can’t be perfect. People have to relate to your brand. Mark Schaefer also says, “Being human is the killer app.” I love that… As you are leading the way, you have to be able to let people know that you have been where they are and understand the struggle, but that you also know the way to the Promised Land. They have to see that you care about their success and also have to believe that you can take them to the Promised Land. Mari Smith says, “Caring is scalable.”
So, as Jim Rohn said, “Find a way to serve the many.” Create a brand that solves a problem for many. Create a brand that serves many. Create a brand that is a hero to many. Lead them to the Promised Land! When you do that, success will not hide from you.
